Old Town Square 932/6, Old Town, 110 00 Prague 1, Czech Republic
The site with its original houses was sold to the Town Insurance Company, which had to fight for permission to pull these houses down and replace them with a new building. The final project creates an illusion of two different houses. Its left side has four floors and marble wainscoting in its lower parts. It is decorated with relief depicting four faculties of the Charles University by the sculptor Ladislav Šaloun. The right side was built according to a project by Osvald Polívka, who also designed the New Town Hall and the Art Nouveau Municipal House. It has three floors, an attic roof, Neo-Baroque elements on the ground floor and Toscana columns. It has rich decorations. An example of these is the allegorical statues of Fire and Water. It also has a relief with the coat of arms of Prague. The sitting statues of Warning Call and Extinguishment of Fire are by Bohuslav Schnirch. The gable is decorated with the Countess Libuše, a kneeling figure and a panoramic picture of Prague in the background.
Every miniature magnetic house made of porcelain is original, unique and unrepeatable. Each individual piece might be slightly different in size or shade of colour as we hand paint every single one.
