Miniature porcelain rotunda:
In front of you are pictures of a detailed replica of a real rotunda. It is a hand-crafted and faithfully processed porcelain model of rotunda, one of the well-known in Bohemia. Our porcelain rotundas are part of brand line that includes over 80 miniature houses found in Prague. From them you can build the Old Town Square, the Golden Lane or even a part of the Lesser Town.
How it comes about:
The basic model is made in scale according to the actual model. Then it’s converted in an elaborate way into a form, from which we obtain individual parts by casting porcelain mass. After assembling, retouching, drying and firing, careful and detailed revising begins again. This process is followed by hand painting with several layers of glaze and another firing at 1200 ° C. Last task is the final decor and firing in the kiln. It is a unique and sophisticated technique of creating models with the theme of historic rotundas. You can see the result in front of you…
The goal:
Our aim is to capture the beauty of architecture in the imprint of ceramic clay and to transfer a piece of this poetry to your homes. It is a nice and valuable reminder of visiting Bohemia.
This product is made based on The Rotunda of St. George and St. Adalbert on Rip, which can be found at this address:

History of The Rotunda of St. George and St. Adalbert on Rip:
Mythical stories of old tell us about the beginnings of the Czech ruling dynasty - the Przemyslids. (Chronicle of Kosmas, 2 chap.; written in Latin before 1125.) The legend says that father Cech (or Czech) climbed up, looked around and decided to stay. This mount is 50 km north from Prague and is one of the most important places of the country. The Rozmberk family, one of the most important Czech aristocratic families, owned the mount for 400 years and then it was passed on to the Lobkowitz family. It is also a Czech place for pilgrimage. The foundation stone of the National theatre was brought from here in 1868. There was a little wooden church on the mountain, which was replaced by a Romanesque chapel built by Duke Soběslav after the battle at Chlumec against Roman Emperor Lothar III. The chapel is round with a tower, window and apse on the eastern side. It is dedicated to St. George, patron saint of farmers.
